FFXIV TTRPG rules are available as free downloads, includes gamemaster and player books

If you’ve been eyeing up the second wave of pre-orders for the Final Fantasy XIV TTRPG but you’re wondering whether you’ll enjoy playing, you now have a chance to peek at the rules without spending a penny. 

Both the Game Book, including the rules for players who just want to set off into a pre-made game, and the Gamemaster Book, designed for those who want to be the dungeon master of their own story, are available to download completely for free. Both downloads are on the Square Enix official website.  

It’s true that TTRPGs aren’t for everyone, but if you’ve never played one and you’re wondering whether you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in the world of FFXIV in tabletop format, this is a great opportunity to peek at the rules and figure out if you want to part with your cash.

The Game Book is 22 pages long in PDF format and contains everything you’d need to start off on your own adventure, including information about the different roles and all the skills and abilities each possesses. It also takes you through the stats for each player, how to make a character profile, and then the basic rules of the game. 

The Gamemaster Book is 21 pages in PDF format, containing everything you’d need to know about coming up with your own campaign story. This book is particularly useful if you want to start a game without purchasing the TTRPG itself, as it tells you everything you’ll need. There’s even information in there about how to play remotely with others online.
